On September 2nd, 44 people from the St. Joseph’s, St. Mary’s in Milton, and various churches in Janesville went on a bus trip to Canada with Father Dave as our tour guide. Most of Tuesday we traveled to Elyria, Ohio. On Wednesday our first stop was to Goat Island in New York on the U.S. side of Niagara Falls.

We then crossed the border into Canada and stayed in Niagara for three days. We stayed at the Marriott Hotel with a view of the Falls from every room. It was breathtaking. We went to a dinner play called Oh! Canada Eh! where the performers were also the wait staff. You should see those kids move. On Thursday a tour guide joined us on the bus for a trip to Toronto. He was very informative and we saw many highlights of the city including the trains for mass transportation, China Town, the theater district and the many, many other sights.

On Friday we went to the flower clock, the Carmelite Monastery,  (which was awesome), the I-Max theater were we saw films of some of the daredevils who went down the falls in various containers. The first one to go down in a barrel was a woman who survived, but many did not. We also went to the daredevil museum. After a nice lunch at the Monastery, we went on the Maid of the Mist boat ride under the falls. Needless to say we all came out looking like drowned rats.

Besides all the great sites and delicious meals, we had a wonderful group of people to travel with. We traveled with many old friends from church and made some new friendships. It was a great time had by all!
