Cemetery Guidelines

Purchasing Graves:

  • Only registered members of Saint Joseph Catholic Church may purchase lots in the
         Cemetery.

  • The cost of each Grave is $300.00.  There is a $40.00 interment fee at the time of burial.
  • A Perpetual Care Fund (required by State Law) provides the monies for care of the
         Cemetery.
  • Refunds of original purchase price are given for graves purchased but no longer needed.
    Buyers must be aware that they are not allowed to "sell their graves to anyone else.
  • Purchaser of a grave must abide by the policies and guidelines of the Cemetery.
Vaults:
  • Each Grave will be equipped with a Vault to be installed at the time of interment.
  • To avoid cutting ruts in the cemetery lawn, the lawn will be planked, and a dolly used to transport the Vault from the truck to the Grave.
  • The repair of any damage done to the lawn will be the responsibility of the installer of the Vault.
Gravestones:
  • Gravestones may be obtained from any monument company.  There is a $25.00 permit necessary when Gravestones are installed.
  • Each Stone is to be set on or in a cement/granite base the width of the cemetery lot (viz. 36 inches).  The foundation shall be level with the ground and wide enough on a least one side to accommodate a flower pot or urn.
  • The Purchaser of the Headstone should meet with the Sexton and the Monument Company representative to ensure correct placement of the stone as well as correctness of any information printed on the stone.
  • If flag holders or Shepherd's Hooks will be used to decorate, then provision must be made for these to be anchored in the cement base.  It is not permitted to stick these in the ground adjacent to the base.
  • Repair and straightening of Gravestones is the responsibility of the Family or Purchaser of the grave.
Schedule of Placing/Removing Decorations:
April 15 -- All winter decorations are to be picked up by this date.  Whatever remains will be gathered and disposed of by Cemetery personnel.
May 15 -- Summer decorations may be put in place at this time.
October 15 -- All Summer decorations are to be picked up; all items remaining after this date will be gathered up and disposed of by Cemetery personnel.
November 15 -- Winter decorations may be put into place at this time.
